Argentina grew in the Happiness Ranking and reached its best position since 2019.

Under Milei's government, the country climbed 6 places and is now ranked 42nd, the best position since 2019

For the eighth consecutive year, Finland ranked at the top of the World Happiness Ranking, an annual study that evaluates 147 countries based on the perception of well-being of their population.

Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden closely follow the Nordic country, reaffirming the leadership of this region in terms of quality of life and personal satisfaction.

However, the 2025 edition of the report presents some novelties: for the first time, Mexico and Costa Rica managed to enter the top 10 of the happiest nations, while Argentina, under the Government of Javier Milei, reached the 42nd place, its best position since 2019.

In contrast, the United States obtained its worst historical performance, evidencing an increase in dissatisfaction within one of the most influential economies on the planet.

The study, prepared by the Wellbeing Research Center at the University of Oxford in collaboration with Gallup, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and an independent editorial board, annually examines the happiness indices in more than 140 countries.

Based on global data and studies conducted by experts from different disciplines, the report aims to offer a broad view of how happiness is perceived worldwide.

The analysis uses factors such as GDP per capita, life expectancy, social support, personal freedoms, generosity, and corruption to develop the ranking.

Its publication coincides with the celebration of the International Day of Happiness, on March 20, a date established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 through Resolution 66/281, in order to recognize happiness as a "universal goal in human development."

Improvement in Argentina

The Latin American region as a whole showed improvement, with nations like Argentina (42), Uruguay (28), and Brazil (36) climbing positions.

In the case of Argentina, the country experienced significant progress in the 2025 World Happiness Report, rising 6 places and ranking in the 42nd position, the best position since 2019.

Thanks to this increase, Argentina is among the happiest in Latin America, surpassing nations like Chile (45), Colombia (61), and Peru (65). This advance reflects an improvement in key indicators such as social support and perception of well-being, factors that tend to balance economic and political challenges. At the opposite end of the ranking, Afghanistan (147th place) continues to occupy the last place.
