The initiative sought to deepen operational capabilities and strengthen the protection of maritime spaces
In recent days, the joint exercise "Tridente" concluded, conducted between the Argentine Navy and the United States Navy, after three weeks of activities carried out at the Mar del Plata Naval Base.
The initiative, which took place from October 25 to November 14, brought together personnel from the Agrupación Buzos Tácticos (APBT) and the Navy SEALs with the goal of deepening operational capabilities and strengthening the protection of maritime spaces.
Throughout the training period, both special forces shared experiences and carried out maneuvers aimed at reinforcing joint work in highly complex scenarios.

The exercises took place in different sectors of the base, including the shooting range, APBT facilities, the Submarine School, and vessels belonging to the Maritime Patrol Division. Each space made it possible to address different aspects of the comprehensive training planned by the program.
During the drills, teams from both nations executed boarding techniques, movements within vessels, and recovery procedures, along with other training related to tactical actions in maritime environments. These maneuvers were aimed at improving coordination and interoperability between the crews, as well as unifying procedures that are key for real missions.
The final phase of the exercise took place aboard a naval unit that assumed the role of a merchant vessel. There, the participants jointly applied the knowledge reviewed during the previous weeks, integrating planning techniques with operational execution in a more demanding simulated scenario. This stage made it possible to consolidate the lessons learned and assess the combined response to complex situations.
The "Tridente" exercise represented a valuable opportunity to advance the standardization of procedures, raise the professionalism of personnel assigned to high-risk missions, and promote the exchange of technical knowledge between both forces.

These actions help strengthen operational capabilities aimed at the control and defense of maritime spaces, especially in patrol tasks within the Exclusive Economic Zone.
The formal closing of the exercise took place during a ceremony led by the Commander of Special Naval Operations Forces of the Argentine Navy, Navy Captain Nicolás Waldo Pérez.
The Head of the Military Cooperation Office of the United States Embassy in Argentina, Commander Stephen Rittermann, also participated. During the event, remarks were read and the traditional exchange of pennants took place, a gesture symbolizing the cooperative bond between both institutions.
Through its official account on the X network, the Argentine Ministry of Defense highlighted the value of the initiative and emphasized the return of joint training after more than two decades: "After 24 years, our Agrupación Buzos Tácticos trained again with the Navy SEALs. Argentina is training again with the best in the world. We are opening our doors to modernize, cooperate, and bring our Armed Forces to the level they deserve".
