A man in the state of Georgia was arrested after threatening the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, and her husband
Aliakbar Mohammad Amin, a 24-year-old man residing in Lilburn, Georgia, faces federal charges after being arrested on Friday for sending a series of threatening messages directed atTulsi Gabbard, current Director of National Intelligence and former congresswoman from Hawaii, as well as her husband, Abraham Williams.
According to the Department of Justice on Monday, Amin was formally charged with transmitting interstate threats of kidnapping or harm, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.
The messages were sent between March 29 and April 1 and contained explicit threats of violence. Among the texts cited in the court complaint are phrases like: "Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you care about.
America will burn," and "You and your family are going to die soon." Another message directed at Williams warned: "The house you two own is a legitimate target and will be attacked at the time and place of our choosing."

In addition to the text messages, Amin allegedly posted threats on social media, including an image of a person pointing a gun at a photograph of Gabbard. During a search of his residence, federal agents also recovered a firearm, reinforcing the seriousness of the threats.
One of the most alarming messages referenced geopolitics, suggesting a connection to Russia. In a text to Williams, Amin wrote: "Tell your wife to always behave and not disobey Mr. Vladimir Putin's orders. We are friendly bears. But we can also be angry bears."
The response from authorities was immediate. The FBI, along with the U.S. Marshals and local police, managed to identify and apprehend Amin, who was presented before a federal court and ordered to remain in custody while the judicial process unfolds.

Tulsi Gabbard, in a post on the social network X following the arrest, thanked the security agencies for their swift action: "Thanks to the FBI, the U.S. Marshals, and local police for their dedication in arresting this radicalized and dangerous criminal who repeatedly threatened our lives and also @realDonaldTrump's."
The FBI special agent in Atlanta, Paul Brown, stated that the Bureau takes all threats very seriously and will employ all available resources to bring those responsible to justice. "This arrest should serve as a clear warning: if you engage in this type of criminal behavior, you will be caught and imprisoned."
So far, neither Gabbard nor Amin's defense attorney have issued additional comments. The case remains under federal investigation.
