Orlando Gill's stay at San Lorenzo seems to be coming to an end. After establishing himself as one of Paraguay's standout players during the 2026 World Cup, the 26-year-old goalkeeper has attracted interest from various European clubs and, currently, the most likely scenario for his future would be in France.
In recent hours, Lille has taken the lead in the race for the goalkeeper and has moved forward with a proposal that, according to reports, would be around 4.5 million dollars for the entirety of his transfer. The French club has also reportedly reached a contractual agreement with Gill, who has also been offered the chance to compete for the starting position from the beginning of the season alongside Turkish player Berke Özer, so only the final details of the operation remain to be defined.
However, San Lorenzo may not have such a favorable stance on letting go of the goalkeeper for that amount. The Boedo club only holds 50 percent of the player's economic rights, while the other half belongs to his representation group. Therefore, a transfer for that amount would leave the Ciclón with just over 2 million dollars, a figure far from their expectations.
Gill had a standout World Cup with Paraguay
The situation is even more significant for the institution due to its economic difficulties. The Cuervo would try to improve the conditions of a potential sale to obtain a higher income and allocate it to pay off the debts the club carries.
Gill is under contract with the azulgrana team until December 2027 and has a buyout clause set at 10 million dollars. At the start of the market, Monza had emerged as one of the main interested parties, although the conditions of that operation did not end up convincing the Ciclón. There were also inquiries from Olympiakos, but the Argentine club dismissed the possibility.
With the proposal from the French club on the table, San Lorenzo will now seek to improve the offer before giving the green light to the operation, while Gill could be spending his last days as a goalkeeper for the Ciclón after a World Cup that has put him on the radar of European football.

Since his debut in the first team of the Ciclón at the end of 2024, the Paraguayan goalkeeper has played 5,672 minutes, spread over 63 matches, of which in 30 he kept a clean sheet, while in the rest he conceded 48 goals. Additionally, he received a yellow card 4 times and a direct red cardonce.
