A man who was checking a garbage container at the intersection of Cabildo Avenue and Monroe, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano, in search of clothing, made a discovery as regrettable as it was chilling.

While searching the container, he found in a bag the lifeless body of a baby just a few days old, which is clearly an attempted abortion.

According to the information released, the investigators from the City Police and the Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 51, under the direction of Dora Olivieri, are working to identify the woman who abandoned the baby's corpse.

Sources close to the case reported that there are security cameras in the area that recorded the moment when the suspect left the bag with the body in the garbage container.

The discovery occurred this Tuesday, shortly before noon, when the man was checking the garbage container located at 2500 Cabildo Avenue in search of clothing discarded by neighbors.

"Upon removing a bag from the bottom of the container, assuming it was clothing, he opened it and there was the baby," the case sources indicated.

Immediately, a call was made to 911, and personnel from the Neighborhood Police Station 13A of the City Police arrived at the scene. Once the officers became aware of what had happened, they requested urgent medical assistance, hoping it was still possible to save the baby's life.

However, when the medical professionals arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the child had already died. "The body showed lividity, hypothermia, and had no pulse, they also noticed it wasn't breathing and detected a scab in the umbilical cord area, which indicated to them that it was a baby born a few days earlier," the specialists detailed.
