The medical staff of Boca has raised alarms again at a particularly delicate moment for the team. Just hours after the serious injury of Tomás Aranda was announced, the club received another piece of news that complicates Rodolfo Arruabarrena's plans: Adam Bareiro will need surgery for the lumbar disc herniation that has kept him off the field for several months.

According to Olé, the Paraguayan forward will undergo surgery next Tuesday and has already begun his pre-surgical studies. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Jorge Batista, although there has not yet been an official statement from the club regarding how long his recovery will take.

The decision came after several attempts to avoid surgery, which was initially sought to be postponed. The former River and San Lorenzo player underwent conservative treatment that included a lumbar block, rehabilitation work, gym sessions, and some light tasks on the field. At various times, his progress generated expectations, but the discomfort persisted and did not allow him to increase his workload normally.

For that reason, the medical team and the player ultimately opted for the intervention. Although there is still no official timeline, at Xeneize they believe that it will be very difficult for the striker to return before 2027, which would further extend an absence that has already lasted several months.

Bareiro's physical problem began even before the hernia. His last match was on May 9 against Huracán, when he had to leave the field before halftime due to a muscle injury in the adductor complex and the left rectus abdominis. That injury sidelined him for several weeks and also prevented him from participating with Paraguay in the World Cup.

Just as he was about to return, the lumbar issue arose, which halted his recovery once again. Since then, the 30-year-old forward has not added any minutes and has also not been an option for Arruabarrena in his second stint with the team.

While Boca analyzes how to cope with both absences, the Paraguayan will begin a new phase in a physical process that ultimately could not be resolved without surgery. The priority will be for the intervention to definitively resolve the lumbar issue, although all indications suggest that Vasco will have to plan the end of the season without one of his attackers.
