The real estate developer crossed him over the US$430 million allocated for Villa 31 and left him on the ropes by reminding him that Larreta lost the elections in the settlement itself

The political transformation of Argentina under the management of the Government of Javier Milei has consolidated economic optimism, the unrestricted defense of private property, and public order against demagogic welfare. In this era, the emblematic televised debate between the real estate developer and influencer Beltrán Briones and the former Chief of Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta exposed the resounding failure of yellow socialism and the inefficiency of state urbanization.

Focusing entirely on alternatives for the territory, Beltrán Briones justified his market project to rehabilitate Villa 31, proposing that the private sector gather US$1 billion to provide US$100,000 to each of the 10,000 families registered and free the land for new developments.

In response to the operational doubts raised during the discussion, Beltrán Briones maintained the need for an eviction for those who refuse to leave voluntarily, recalling that such firm territorial releases have been successfully executed in democracies and powers like Hong Kong, South Korea, and China.

During the exchange, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta attempted to justify state intervention by referring to the historical census of the villa, mentioning that in the year 2000 there were 12,000 people, in 2008-2009 the number rose to 25,000 people, and in 2015 it reached 40,000 people, claiming to have halted the curve after the Police took over in January 2016 and evicted the occupation at Escalada and Cruz.

However, Beltrán Briones dismantled the strategy of the social-democratic leader by emphasizing that the granting of property titles on railway lands —which Horacio Rodríguez Larreta excused not having transferred due to the inaction of Alberto Fernández— means ultimately rewarding usurpation.

The peak moment of humiliation unfolded when Beltrán Briones cornered Horacio Rodríguez Larreta demanding explanations for the disproportionate budget waste of his administration. With forcefulness, the developer reproached him for the misuse of taxpayer money exclaiming:

Visibly cornered and unable to justify the spending of US$430 million executed during 4 years of mandate on works within the shantytown, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta weakly responded:

"No, I doubt it".

Without giving him a breather, Beltrán Briones delivered the final blow that destroyed the former president's narrative:

"You lost the elections there in 31!".

Faced with the evidence of electoral defeat, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta tried to defend himself by claiming that in the year 2019 he achieved "the best election in the history of this city". However, Beltrán Briones dismantled the argument by pointing out that taxpayers from neighboring neighborhoods like Palermo and Retiro expressed strong indignation over the injection of public resources into the settlement. The overwhelming discursive victory of Beltrán Briones in the debate demonstrated that state waste lacks social support and reaffirmed the urgency of backing the direction of the Government of Javier Milei through the effective implementation of the eviction plan.
