The South American Cup enters its decisive stage and Boca already knows when it will return to the field in search of a spot in the grand final in Barranquilla. After eliminating São Paulo in the quarter-finals, the Xeneize will face Vasco da Gama for a place in the decisive match of the continental tournament.
This Monday, CONMEBOL officially announced the schedule for the series: the first match will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 21:30 (Argentina time) at La Bombonera, while the return leg is scheduled for Tuesday the 20th, also at 21:30, although the venue in Brazil is still to be determined.
The semifinal matchups of the Copa Sudamericana
The main issue lies in Vasco's home ground. The São Januário, the usual stadium for the Rio team, has a capacity of around 20,000 people and does not meet the minimum of 30,000 seats required by CONMEBOL regulations for the semifinals.
The Brazilian team is seeking permission from the South American body to make an exception to play at home, something that has happened before. In 2025, the entity allowed Independiente del Valle to play the semifinal at their stadium (Estadio Banco Guayaquil) despite its capacity being below the regulatory minimum (12,000).
If they cannot play at São Januário, the Rio club is considering various alternatives to host the team from La Ribera. The sports director of the Brazilian club, Admar Lopes, explained that the priority is not to leave Rio de Janeiro and stated: "At this moment we are evaluating all possibilities. Including São Januário, Maracaná, and Engenhão (Botafogo's stadium). Our priority is to play in Rio". Furthermore, the management is considering resorting to the courts to attempt to use Maracaná if Flamengo or Fluminense, responsible for managing the stadium during certain periods, do not agree to lend it.
On the other side of the bracket, Atlético Mineiro and Montevideo City Torque will compete in the other semifinal. The first leg will be on Wednesday, October 14 in Belo Horizonte and the return leg will take place in Uruguay, both at 19:00 (Argentina time).

In addition to the South American Cup series, CONMEBOL also revealed the details of the semifinal series of the Libertadores Cup, featuring a single Argentine presence: Estudiantes de La Plata.
The Pincha will open its tie against Flamengo on Thursday, October 15 at 21:30 (Argentina time) with venue still to be determined due to capacity regulations for visiting fans required by the South American body. The return match will be played a week later, on Thursday the 22nd, at the same time at the Maracaná Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
