The serious injury of Tomás Aranda forced Boca Juniors to explore alternatives to cover his absence. The 19-year-old youth player suffered a fibula fracture and will be out for approximately four months.
The injury allowed the “Xeneize” to free up a spot to incorporate another player, a possibility that Racing had already utilized after a similar situation with Marco Di Césare. However, Boca's management and Rodolfo Arruabarrena made a different decision: they will not use the available spot and there will be no further signings in this transfer market.
In this way, the coach will have to find an internal replacement for Aranda to face the upcoming commitments.
Arruabarrena's options to replace Aranda
The coaching staff has various alternatives to fill the vacancy left by the youth player. One of them is Sebastián Villa, who could move to the left wing and allow Leonel Flores to take a more withdrawn position within a 4-3-3 formation.
Another possibility, and the one that appears to have the best chances according to the player's usual position, is Alan Velasco. The attacking midfielder was used as a replacement for Aranda for a good part of the semester and can play directly in the same area of the field.

For this reason, Velasco is shaping up as one of the main alternatives to occupy the position in the upcoming matches. In fact, he would be the chosen option to maintain the structure that Arruabarrena has been using.
Lautaro Bianco, Boca's youth alternative
Among the available options Lautaro Bianco also appears, another player who emerged from the club's youth divisions. The youth player belongs to the same category as Aranda and will have the opportunity to start training with the professional squad.
Bianco will join the group starting next Thursday with the aim of competing for a spot and, eventually, making his debut in the First Division.
