Bombshell: Mariano Closs implied that the Boca-Independiente match might be fixed

The ESPN host and commentator read a message on air that suggested the match between Xeneize and Rojo was fixed

Renato Della Paolera, a journalist supporting Independiente, revealed alongside host Mariano Closs  private WhatsApp messages suggesting that next Monday's match between Rojo and Boca might already have a predetermined winner.

Della Paolera, who closely follows the team led by Julio Vaccari, caused a stir by sharing a series of chats that, according to him, were allegedly sent to a colleague of his ahead of the quarter-final clash of the Torneo Apertura to be held at La Bombonera.

"I just met with one of 'someone's' loyalists. It's a national line, and they tell me: on Monday, don't even watch the game. We need to strengthen... That's the directive," Closs read directly from Della Paolera's phone, alluding to an apparent influential figure in Argentine football.

Although the program's members  did not specify which match they were referring to, they hinted it was one of Monday's games. Meanwhile, the phrase "we need to strengthen... (without indicating which team)" seemed to indirectly point to Boca, which is going through a deep crisis both in sports, due to the team's poor performance and bad results, and institutionally, with a marked division among its fans.
