Such an unusual and explosive move is beginning to take shape in Argentine soccer. Miguel Ángel Borja, current forward for River, has appeared on Boca's radar for 2026, and the possibility of a direct transfer between the country's two giants no longer sounds far-fetched. With a contract in effect until December 31, the Colombian will become a free agent in a matter of days, and there have already been preliminary contacts with officials close to Juan Román Riquelme.
The story accelerated after Borja's own statements on ESPN, during an interview on the F90 program, while he is on vacation in Colombia. There, the striker acknowledged that he wouldn't close the door to a potential call from La Ribera. "I have a brother who's a Boca fan. You can't close doors or say you'll never drink from this water," he said, in a statement that caused strong discomfort in the River community, since the player still formally belongs to the Núñez club.
According to Olé, the first contact between Boca and the striker's camp actually took place before that television interview. In other words, the possibility of a historic move was already underway when Borja spoke publicly about his future. It wouldn't be the first time, moreover, that the Colombian has appeared on Boca's radar: before his arrival at River, he had already been closely monitored and was very close to signing in previous transfer windows.
