The Argentine hockey teams had a resounding debut at the Odesur South American Games Santa Fe 2026. Both Los Leones and Las Leonas started their participation with victories that reflected the wide gap against their first rivals.
The men's team defeated 22-0 against Peru, while the women's team won 14-0 against Paraguay. Together, Argentina scored 36 goals on the opening day.
Las Leonas defeated Paraguay 14-0
After their world championship victory, the team led in this competition by Juan Martín López, current coach of Las Leoncitas, had a strong debut against the Paraguayan team.
Lara Casas was the top scorer with three goals, while Brisa Bruggesser, Zoe Díaz, Catalina Andrade, Milagros Alastra, and Pilar Palacio each scored two goals. Lourdes Pisthon completed the score.
Argentina arrived at the tournament with seven world champions and from the start imposed their hierarchy to dominate the match from beginning to end.
The next match for Las Leonas will be on Tuesday, September 15, at 16:00, against Uruguay, represented by Las Cimarronas.
