Leandro Paredes accepted Boca's offer and will wear the blue and gold jersey again after eleven years. After his vacation in the United States and Xeneize's participation in the Club World Cup, the world champion gave his approval to Juan Román Riquelme and, in the coming hours, will execute his release clause with Roma to fulfill his desire to return to La Ribera.

According to Infobae, a person close to the club confirmed that the midfielder has already given Riquelme the green light regarding the contract terms. The Football Council improved the offer from the last transfer window and matched it in salary terms with what the player was earning in Italy.

Additionally, Boca will cover the 3.5 million euros corresponding to the release clause that Paredes had in his contract with Roma. The midfielder of the Argentina National Team will thus become the highest-paid player on the squad, surpassing Edinson Cavani.

The squad led by Miguel Ángel Russo will return to training on Tuesday, July 1 at the Ezeiza complex, but Paredes is not expected to join on that date. The plan is to present him at La Bombonera, with an event open to the public. The midfielder, who turns 31 this Sunday, played his last official match on June 10, in the 1-1 draw between Argentina and Colombia in the South American Qualifiers at the Monumental.

The coaching staff is planning a physical reconditioning so he can catch up with his teammates, who have been training or competing in the United States. For this reason, Boca plans to request from the AFA a postponement of the debut in the Clausura Tournament against Argentinos Juniors, scheduled for the weekend of July 13, arguing the short break after the Club World Cup.
