Boselli returns to River at Gallardo's request after his spell with Estudiantes

The Uruguayan defender will be recalled for the second half of the season after gaining experience during his loan in La Plata

Marcelo Gallardo has started shaping the new River that will face the second half of 2025 and has made a key decision in defense: he has requested the return of Sebastián Boselli, who will come back after his loan at Estudiantes de La Plata.

The Uruguayan center-back, 21 years old, left in mid-2024 to get more playing time and he achieved it: he played in 17 of Pincha's last 25 matches, although he missed some due to a thigh injury. His loan was free of chargeand without a purchase option, but it included a recall clause in the current transfer window that River decided to activate.

Journalist Hernán Castillo reported in advance that Boselli will return to compete for a spot in Gallardo's team and not because of a formal offer that arrived from abroad. According to various sources, people close to the player confirmed that the return is exclusively at the coach's request.

Boselli's recall comes in a context of deep renewal: the coach released nine players who did not meet expectations. In addition, the arrival of the Uruguayan further complicates the future of Leandro González Pírez and Federico Gattoni, who are already looking for a club for next season.

Boselli, who can play both as a center-back and as a full-back, will seek to take advantage of this second opportunity. At River, he signed a contract until December 2026 after his arrival in August 2023 from Defensor Sporting for 3.5 million dollars for 70% of his rights. So far, he has played 14 matches and scored one goal, which was against Deportivo Táchira in last year's Copa Libertadores.
