In what represents a new and alarming chapter of the political correctness agenda in Europe, the British Police has introduced special credentials for progressive officers who self-identify as "gender fluid". This unusual measure allows them to carry more than one official identification to present themselves to society as men or women depending on how they decide to "feel" each day. The controversial decision, revealed in an investigation by special correspondent Hayley Dixon for the newspaper The Telegraph on August 23, has raised alarms in various sectors warning about the serious danger this poses to security and public order.

Regionally, the implementation of this directive is already a concrete reality. The police forces in the counties of Leicestershire, Norfolk, and Suffolk have officially confirmed that they are already issuing double or multiple cards to agents who specifically request them.

This is in response to an internal human resources guide adapted from guidelines originally designed in 2018 by the pressure group Stonewall in collaboration with the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), an ideological document that, due to the controversy generated, has already been removed from the official website of that council.

While unified departments like those in Norfolk and Suffolk defend their policy of "trans equality in the workplace", other police bodies more attuned to civil reality, such as the South Yorkshire police, have firmly refused to implement this practice citing strict "security reasons".

The operational impact of this progressive measure is devastating for the force's procedures. Identification cards are the essential official identity documents that an officer must display before exercising powers of significant legal sensitivity, such as the arrest and search of suspects.

According to British criminal law, thorough checks and searches —those where the suspect must remove clothing beyond a hat, gloves, and coat— must be carried out mandatorily by an officer of the same biological sex.

Allowing officers to play with their gender identity and carry interchangeable badges not only destroys the transparency of the process but, as experts warn, violates the rights of the searched citizens and creates an intolerable legal confusion on the streets.

The outrage over this administrative farce has united legislators, activists, and former police members. The opposition's Home Affairs spokesperson, Chris Philp, harshly criticized the measure, stating categorically: "Police forces should not allow officers to change gender at will. This jeopardizes public trust in the police".

Philp emphasized that "the police should focus on the basics of their work, which consist of protecting the public and apprehending more criminals".

In the same vein, Harry Miller, a former police officer and founder of the civil collective Fair Cop, bluntly categorized the measure before The Telegraph: "Allowing an officer to be a man one day and a woman the next is one of the stupidest things I've heard".

Miller was emphatic in pointing out that the average citizen has the inalienable right to know exactly who they are dealing with, requiring fixed data such as the name, badge number, and the actual sex of the officer.

"All this does is sow unnecessary confusion and division and undermine public trust in the police. If the police cannot distinguish a man from a woman, how can we trust them to distinguish a crime from something that is not? The police need policies based on reality, not on political ideologies or the stupidity of political correctness", concluded the activist.

The specific details of the internal protocols of Norfolk and Suffolk demonstrate the extent to which the forces have submitted to these doctrinal demands. Their internal regulations not only contemplate the issuance of two credentials but also allow officers to "use items that assist them in gender confirmation/identity according to their needs, for example, wearing a wig, prosthetics, or compression garments".

Additionally, uniformed personnel are instructed and warned that under no circumstances should they use the birth name of their colleagues (referred to in the regulations as the "previous name of their parents").

The guidelines state that if the officer decides to undergo a complete biological transition, they must return their two identification cards to receive a single credential, and they may even request a change of their identification or payment number as per their convenience.

To date, and despite the confirmation of the existence of these gender ideology policies, none of the spokespersons for the police forces of Leicestershire, Norfolk, or Suffolk have been able to confirm whether they currently have active officers patrolling the streets with multiple identifications in their pockets. While the Leicestershire police limit themselves to stating that these requests are evaluated individually under supposed risk controls, Norfolk admitted to reviewing its policies following recent judicial setbacks, awaiting new national directives
