Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 brings back classic maps from Black Ops II

The new Call of Duty arrives in November with nostalgic maps, revamped movement mechanics, and new features in both campaign and multiplayer modes

The release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, scheduled for November 14, is already generating great anticipation.

The fan community is celebrating the return of classic Black Ops 2 maps, which have never been remastered, a decision that seeks to balance nostalgia and freshness in multiplayer mode.

Classic Black Ops 2 maps

Since its release in 2012, Black Ops 2 marked an entire generation of players thanks to the quality of its multiplayer maps. Iconic settings like Raid and Hijacked have been reused in different installments, but other favorites were left behind.

Now, Treyarch has confirmed that Black Ops 7 will bring back maps that have never been remastered, such as Yemen, Plaza, Aftermath, Cargo, and Overflow. The news was well received on forums and social media, as it answers a request that fans have been making for years.

Matt Scronce, Treyarch's design director, stated that not only will these maps be included, but more could be added in future updates. With this, the developer aims to expand the variety of multiplayer and revitalize the experience.

New movement system

Another major innovation is omnimovement, a redesign of mobility that combines the classic essence with modern innovations. Players will be able to perform up to three consecutive wall-jumps, although with reduced momentum starting from the second jump.

The goal, according to Scronce, is to maintain the tactical pace characteristic of Call of Duty, preventing users from moving uncontrollably through the settings. This mechanic will be tested in the October beta, where the community will have its first contact with the changes.

Changes in progression and narrative

Treyarch has also confirmed the partial cancellation of the Carry Forward program. Unlike Black Ops 6, weapons and skins can't be transferred, although double XP tokens and GobbleGums will carry over.

Regarding the story, the game will pick up the plot ten years after Black Ops 2. The return of Menendez and Mason strengthens the central narrative arc, while the campaign will include a specific endgame and a renewed Zombies mode with large-scale settings.

A bet on nostalgia with an eye to the future

The return of classic maps, along with new mobility and progression adjustments, aims to offer a balance between retro and contemporary elements. For veteran players, it means reliving iconic settings. For new players, it represents discovering historic maps with updated graphics.

Black Ops 7 thus stands as one of the most ambitious releases in the saga, combining tradition and modernity in a package that promises to extend the multiplayer's lifespan for months.
