Capcom showcased the first gameplay of Resident Evil Requiem and confirmed its return to classic horror
Capcom showed for the first time the official gameplay of Resident Evil Requiem, the highly anticipated ninth installment of its flagship saga. The new title arrives with a proposal that blends the best of classic horror with current technologies.
With a confirmed release date of February 27, 2026, the game will be available for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. The story is set once again in Raccoon City, but with a much darker and more psychological approach.

Who is the new protagonist of Resident Evil Requiem?
Instead of Leon, Claire, or Chris, this time we will control Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst. Her mission is to investigate a series of strange deaths that occur three decades after the destruction of the city.
Grace is a character with no combat experience. This initial vulnerability, according to Capcom, aims to create a stronger emotional connection with players as she evolves throughout the story.
Gameplay at the player's choice
The game will allow players to choose between a first-person or third-person camera, a decision designed to please all fans of the franchise. This option combines the best of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Capcom reveló el gameplay de Resident Evil Requiem
Koshi Nakanishi's team (director of Resident Evil 7) promises a title more focused on horror, with tense moments and limited resources.
Raccoon City returns to the center of horror
The story takes us back to Raccoon City, but with an atmosphere that bets on raw suspense. Players will see familiar places but degraded by the passage of time, adding a layer of nostalgia and danger.

As usual, the game will feature puzzles, exploration, and action, but with a slower and more terrifying pace. Capcom promises an experience reminiscent of the classics, but with current graphics and technology.
What else did Capcom reveal about Resident Evil Requiem?
The gameplay shown at the Capcom Spotlight revealed new mechanics such as limited weapon use, an adjusted inventory, and a map with multiple paths. It was also confirmed that there will be moments when the player's decisions impact the course of the story.
For now, only Grace was seen as a playable character. However, it is not ruled out that other well-known protagonists may appear later, either as cameos or allies during the plot.
