During Liverpool's celebrations, a tragic event disrupted the festivities: a terrorist was arrested by Merseyside Police after carrying out a mass hit-and-run on the city's streets. The outcome was alarming, with nearly twenty people injured.

The incident took place in the afternoon in Liverpool, while the club's fans were celebrating the recent Premier League title. A 53-year-old British citizen, who was driving a black vehicle, deliberately drove into several people who were enjoying the champions' parade.
Through an official statement, Merseyside Police confirmed that the perpetrator was detained at the scene. "Emergency teams are continuing to work in the area," the police report added.

According to initial reports, at least 17 fans were injured as a result of the hit-and-run. Additionally, according to The Telegraph, the counter-terrorism police have also joined the investigation to determine whether there was any other motivation behind the attack.
Liverpool's statement after the incident
The English club quickly addressed what happened through an official statement.

"We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street that occurred toward the end of the trophy parade this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident," the club stated.
The institution also reaffirmed its cooperation with the authorities: "We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident," the institution concluded.
