A gang that targeted app drivers was brought down in Córdoba: eight arrested
The police carried out more than 30 raids in neighborhoods in the northwest of the city and seized a weapon and other items
A large operation by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations made it possible to dismantle a gang dedicated to assaulting app drivers. Eight people were arrested after a series of procedures carried out in different parts of the city of Córdoba. Among the seized items, a firearm was found that is believed to have been used in the incidents.
The procedures included more than 30 simultaneous raids concentrated in the Marqués de Sobremonte and Marqués Anexo neighborhoods. Actions were also carried out in nearby areas where the suspects are believed to have hidden stolen goods. During the course of police operations, the number of detainees increased from four to eight.
De la Recova and Del Molino streets were strategic points where objects related to the investigated crimes were found. The firearm, considered a key piece of evidence in the case, was also seized there. The organization used direct intimidation as its main tool of action against the drivers.

Criminal modus operandi and progress of the case
According to investigators, the accused requested rides on mobile platforms and then threatened the drivers to steal their belongings or vehicles. The violence used during the attacks caused great fear among the victims and made immediate reporting difficult. Authorities are seeking to establish the involvement of each detainee in the different incidents.
The case remains under judicial investigation and further arrests are not ruled out in the coming hours. The suspects remain at the disposal of the Justice while operations continue. The objective of the procedures is to completely dismantle the criminal organization and recover more stolen items.
