Another detachment of masonry in Córdoba triggered security alarms
The incident occurred on the ninth floor of the Terrazas del Palacio building in the Nueva Córdoba neighborhood. No injuries were reported
A new incident was reported in Córdoba Capital when part of the masonry of a ninth-floor balcony collapsed in the morning hours. The building, located at 800 Chacabuco, had already experienced minor detachments that alerted the administration to possible risks. This time, there were no injuries thanks to preventive measures installed days earlier by Civil Defense and Firefighters.
According to specialists, the previous Friday there had been a minor fall on the same balcony, which prompted the installation of a safety barrier. Over the weekend, mesh was installed, which managed to contain much of the damage when the major detachment occurred. "On Saturday, we ordered the installation of protective mesh that successfully contained 80% of the damage; it could have been more serious," explained expert Enrique Zanni.
Firefighters removed the debris that had been left hanging to prevent further risks and secured the area with a complete fence along the sidewalk. The affected apartment remains uninhabited, while the installation of a containment tray is awaited to reinforce safety in the area. The final assessment will seek to determine whether the problem originated from internal leaks or from lack of maintenance on the concrete moldings.

Recent precedents in the city
This incident occurred four months after the detachment at the María Reina V building in the Güemes neighborhood, where one person died and seven were injured. That tragedy also caused severe material damage, both in the affected tower and in neighboring homes, which caused widespread public concern. Also in May, a building under construction on General Paz Avenue collapsed, where a worker lost his life during the workday.
The Güemes case led to a judicial investigation into possible responsibilities of the building's administration and the construction company. Preliminary reports pointed to maintenance failures and the absence of periodic inspections of the structures. The case is progressing in provincial court with ongoing expert assessments to determine sanctions.
