Claudio Úbeda broke the silence this Thursday after Boca Juniors decided not to renew his contract as coach. The Sifón, visibly affected, shared his feelings about the end of his cycle at the club in La Ribera and emphasized that, beyond the pain, he understands the reasons of the management.
"It hurts a lot to be called the former coach of Boca," he confessed in a conversation with Radio La Red. The coach admitted that in a giant like Xeneize, winning is always necessary and that the elimination in the Copa Libertadores marked an inflection point that was impossible to ignore.
Úbeda stressed that failing is when one does not try, and made it clear that his team gave everything until the last match. "We tried until the end," he asserted with conviction.
The coach reviewed how his departure came about. He mentioned that Chelo Delgado called him in to explain face to face the reasons for the decision and thanked him for the process without internal conflicts in the Boca World.
The balance of a demanding cycle
Despite the outcome, Úbeda highlighted positive aspects of his time at the club. He mentioned the adaptation process the team underwent and the growth it experienced after Miguel Russo's departure. Since the match against Lanús, the team has gone 14 matches without losing and won both classics.
"In the annual table, we are qualified for the next Libertadores, but that's not enough for Boca; it needs to win," he explained. He lamented that people focus on the final picture and get upset for not advancing in the continental tournament.

A departure with mutual respect
