Colapinto confident ahead of the Hungarian GP: 'The trend is going to change'
The Argentine driver is looking to end the losing streak at Alpine and finish the first half of the championship with a good result at the Hungaroring
Franco Colapinto is preparing for a new opportunity in the 2025 season of Formula 1. After a difficult weekend in Belgium, the Argentine driver arrives at the Hungarian Grand Prix with renewed optimism and the goal of reversing a streak of adverse results with the Alpine team.
"We had a complicated weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, although we feel we've made progress. It's as if we frequently end up on the wrong side due to tiny details, but I'm convinced the trend will eventually change," said Colapinto, who finished 19th last Sunday after struggling with slick tires in a race marked by changing weather conditions.

Regarding the demanding sprint format, the Argentine acknowledged the difficulties: "Sprint weekends are always a challenge because it's important to be competitive right away. The car lacked grip in the first free practice sessions, so we tried to maximize everything during the Sprint Qualifying".
Despite not scoring points at Spa, Colapinto valued the collective effort: "We weren't well positioned to score points, but I was happy for Pierre(Gasly) and the team that at least they managed to get one by finishing tenth".

With his focus on the Hungaroring, the driver from Pilar is betting on a track he knows well and where he has performed well in junior categories. In Formula 3, he was second in 2022 and third in 2023, while in F2 in 2024 he achieved a solid fifth place.
"We remain focused and keep working hard to put all the pieces of the puzzle together in Hungary. I've achieved several podiums in junior categories at the Hungaroring, and it's a circuit and a city I like, so I'm really looking forward to getting back in the car there," he emphasized.

The Hungarian Grand Prix will mark the end of the first half of the championship before the summer break. For Colapinto and Alpine, it represents a chance to change the atmosphere and head into the second part of the year with renewed confidence.
"For this last race before the summer break, we hope to achieve a positive result for the team before everyone can enjoy a well-deserved few weeks of rest," he concluded.
