Colapinto, frustrated with his team: 'It was very easy for me to score a point today'

The Argentine driver finished 11th after a rather solid weekend, but criticized Alpine's lack of internal support

The best weekend for Franco Colapinto in Formula 1 ended tinged with frustration. In the Dutch GP, the Argentine driver was one step away from scoring his first points with Alpine, but the team's strategy and Pierre Gasly's resistance prevented him from achieving it.

With new medium tires, Colapinto showed great pace in the final part, overtaking Nico Hülkenberg with ease and coming close to passing Esteban Ocon. Meanwhile, Gasly, with evident tire wear and losing positions, did not let him through, blocking his progress for several laps.

The Buenos Aires native only managed to get past his teammate shortly before the end, when it was already too late to go after Ocon. Andrea Kimi Antonelli's penalty allowed him to finish 11th, but the feeling was bitter and the opportunity to score was left hanging in the air.

Colapinto's anger

After the race, the Argentine was direct in his statements: "It was a complicated race. I had several opportunities, but I think we needed to do a better job as a team. I think it was very easy to get me a point today at least. It didn't take much effort," he said in the press pen.

Despite the frustration, he also highlighted positive aspects of his performance: "I'm more consistent with the car. I'm a bit more comfortable. I had a good weekend."

In what was his strongest performance of the season, Colapinto made it clear that he wants to and can fight for points. The challenge now is to get Alpine to support him at key moments.
