Concern at Boca over Miguel Ángel Russo's health: 'He is weak'

Concern within Boca has been growing as the days go by. Miguel Ángel Russo has not been able to lead training sessions or accompany the team in matches for several weeks, and his health condition keeps the club on edge. In the recent matches against Newell’s and Defensa y Justicia, Claudio Úbeda was in charge of the squad.

According to journalist Leandro "Tato" Aguilera on TyC Sports, Russo is going through "a difficult and delicate situation," and remains under home hospitalization with constant medical supervision. "Boca's coach is weak, he is in serious condition, everyone here is sending him their strength and support so he can recover!," the same source added.

The coach has not managed the team since September 24 and, after several routine check-ups, doctors recommended that he continue treatment from home. Even so, he closely followed last weekend's match, in which Boca defeated Newell’s 5-0 at La Bombonera.

In recent hours, it became known that Juan Román Riquelme visited the coach at his home. Journalist Gastón Gerke (DSports) reported that "the president stopped by to see him with the concern that his case demands." The relationship between the two goes back a long way: it was Riquelme who chose him both in 2020 and this year to lead the club's football project.

Boca has not issued any official statement regarding Russo's health. The management keeps absolute secrecy and respects the family's silence during this sensitive time for the historic coach.

A victory dedicated to the coach

After the win against Newell’s, the main figures did not forget to dedicate the result to him. "We are very happy and we dedicate this victory to Miguel, who has surely been watching us on television," said Claudio Úbeda at the press conference.

In the same vein, Leandro Paredes also offered words of support: "It is an important victory for everyone. We dedicate it to him, who is going through a time that is not pleasant at all."
