Córdoba: a street parking attendant was convicted of assaulting a woman and threatening the prosecutor

The man received a sentence of 4 years and 6 months

Ezequiel Alejandro Pereyra, a "trapito" from the city of Córdoba, was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for assaulting and attempting to steal a female driver's cell phone.

The 5th Criminal Chamber of Córdoba issued the sentence this Tuesday, so Pereyra will return to Bower prison, where he was previously detained.

The convict "pressured" the prosecutor of the case, Marcelo Fenoll, whom he asked "what his name was" and warned that they would meet again.

He is not the only "trapito" or "naranjita," as those who watch over cars on the streets are called in Córdoba.

There is discontent among a large part of the citizens, who believe that they charge for parking in an abusive manner.

This year, the police have detained numerous people who, alongside those "naranjitas" who perform their work according to the rules and with respect, use violent methods when charging or demanding payment for parking.

Trial of "naranjita" who attempted extortion

Regarding the trial against Pereyra, everything happened on May 17, 2024, at 8:30 p.m. on Luis de Tejeda Street at 4500 in the Cerro de las Rosas neighborhood.

According to the judicial investigation, the Córdoba "trapito"—who did not work for any cooperative—demanded a payment from a woman for parking her car.

In those circumstances, since the woman refused to pay, the man threatened her and an argument ensued. One of the woman's sons called the police and, in those circumstances, the car attendant tried to take the young man's cell phone. Since he could not, he stole it from the woman.

He was then arrested by the police.

He had a criminal record, as there was a previous conviction against him for property crimes.
