Córdoba creates a police drone division with artificial intelligence

The new unit will use artificial intelligence, anti-drones, and mobile command centers

The Police of the province of Córdoba will incorporate a new unit specialized in drone operation for prevention, control, and operational support tasks. The division, called SVANT (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System), aims to strengthen the force's response capacity to crimes, emergencies, and mass events, using state-of-the-art technology.

The initiative is driven by the Ministry of Security of the Province, which recently opened a public tender to acquire 15 short, medium, and long-range drones, with an investment exceeding 7.8 billion pesos. It is a measure that seeks to integrate advanced technological tools into security strategies.

Diverse applications and advanced technology

The future SVANT Division will play a key role in activities such as preventive patrolling, search and rescue of people, monitoring of mass events, judicial raids, and anti-terrorist operations. Additionally, it will be able to intervene in emergency situations or surveillance in critical areas, with the aim of preventing crimes and assisting in investigations.

Meanwhile, the new system will also feature an anti-drone system, designed to neutralize unauthorized aircraft. This mechanism will be especially useful to prevent, for example, the entry of prohibited items into penitentiary establishments.

From the provincial government, they detailed that the division will have three mobile command centers equipped in utility vehicles, which will allow coordinating operations in real-time, facilitating tactical deployment and territorial control.

Artificial intelligence and biometric identification

One of the most innovative aspects of the project is the incorporation of artificial intelligence tools for facial and license plate recognition, as well as real-time biometric identification through video analysis. This technology will enable the detection of wanted persons or vehicles with arrest warrants, which will improve operational efficiency and crime prevention.

The main headquarters of the division will operate at the Provincial Directorate of Aeronautics, near Ambrosio Taravella Airport, while a second operational base will be located at the Coronel Olmedo aeroclub.

With this measure, Córdoba joins the international trend of applying technological solutions in public security, providing the Police with modern tools that complement human work and allow for more efficient intervention.
