Córdoba defines 18 lists, but everything indicates that La Libertad Avanza will prevail again

On October 26, nine seats in the Chamber of Deputies will be chosen, and the most liberal province positions LLA as the undisputed winner

The Cordobés stage once again plays a key role in midterm elections where nine seats in the national Lower House are being renewed. The magnitude of the number of registered lists surprises even analysts who closely follow the provincial dynamic. La Libertad Avanza emerges as the clear favorite, reinforcing the 2023 trend in the district.

La Libertad Avanza features Gonzalo Roca as its main figure, a businessman and trusted lawyer of Gabriel Bornoroni in the province. He is accompanied by Laura Soldano, who went from influencer to candidate after declaring herself convinced by Milei, and current deputy Laura Rodríguez Machado. The line-up demonstrates the strength of the party in Córdoba, where the expectation is to repeat victory.

Within the same coalition, Marcos Patiño Brizuela from PAMI Córdoba and leaders such as Enrique Lluch or Evelin Barroso also appear. All of them join to support a project that has already provided ample evidence of electoral backing in the province. La Libertad Avanza thus manages to bring together different profiles under centralized leadership.

The battle for the opposition vote

The return of Juan Schiaretti marks another battle for historic Cordobesismo, which insists on maintaining influence in its own territory. The former governor leads the Provincias Unidas ticket with the intention of returning to Congress, after two consecutive defeats at the hands of libertarians. Córdoba once again becomes the stage for a Peronism that is trailing behind in its own home.

The provincial ruling party completes its slate with names such as Carolina Basualdo or Miguel Siciliano, who seek to sustain the structure. Minister Laura Jure and Ignacio García Aresca are also on the list, attempting to offer renewal within a space lacking clear direction. The challenge for Schiarettismo is to avoid another defeat that would confirm its political decline.

The minimal local Kirchnerism insists on maintaining its place with Pablo Carro, accompanied by Constanza San Pedro as the face of Juan Grabois in Córdoba. However, the party is limited to its hard core of activists and fails to reach the independent electorate. In a province historically resistant to Kirchnerism, the outlook remains marginal and symbolic.

Divided Peronism and other token lists

Natalia de la Sota seeks to renew her seat with a new party called Defendamos Córdoba, setting herself apart from Schiarettismo. She is joined by academic Marcelo Ruiz and sectors of lesser specific weight, without a broad territorial structure. Her strategy seems focused on maintaining personal visibility rather than competing for a real majority.

The historic UCR list 3 places Ramón Mestre as its leader after the split with Rodrigo de Loredo. The radical internal conflict has weakened a party that has not managed to recover from divisions and setbacks. Alongside him, Oscar Agost Carreño heads the PRO ticket, also affected by internal disputes.

Among the minor options, Héctor Baldassi appears with Ciudadanos, adding Yanina Vargas on a ticket seeking to attract scattered sectors. The Left Front is once again running with Liliana Olivero, accompanied by Josué Plevich, with little expectation of increasing seats.

The candidacies of Aurelio García Elorrio, through Encuentro por la República, also fail to achieve national projection. The former legislator competes in the space supported by, in addition to Encuentro Vecinal, Republicanos Unidos and Coalición Cívica. Juan Saillén, son of Mauricio Saillén, leader of the Surrbac union, will head the Fe party ticket.

Blue libertarians who only aim to split the vote

In the alternative liberal spectrum, Agustín Spaccesi is running for the Libertarian Party and Rodolfo Eiben for the Democratic Party. Spaccesi tries to present himself as an opponent, but in the Cordobés Legislature he has been functional to the ruling party on repeated occasions. Today he launches criticisms at Milei and the national government, seeking to split the liberal vote, but without any real chance of reaching Congress.

Alfredo Keegan with Acción para el Cambio, Julia Di Santi for Nuevo Más, and Stefano López Chiodi with a libertarian offshoot are also registered. Edgar Bruno is running with Política Abierta, Mario “Sapo” Peral leads Unión Popular Federal, and Julio Lucero heads Córdoba te quiero. This overabundance of lists ends up diluting the debate and subtracts real competitiveness from these token candidacies.

On October 26, what polls are already predicting will be confirmed: another sweeping victory for La Libertad Avanza in Córdoba. Peronism will once again be relegated to second place, confirming a historic decline in the province it once dominated. The liberal offshoots, lacking an electoral base, will remain merely anecdotal as failed attempts to divide.
