The update of the distribution added value marks the largest increase since November 2023

Starting this month, Empresa Provincial de Energía de Córdoba (EPEC) will apply a 3.39% increase in the value added for distribution. This component of the bill covers the company's own costs and was authorized by the Provincial Directorate of Statistics and Census. This is the highest adjustment so far this year and the first to exceed 3% since November 2024.
The increase is part of the application of the monthly adjustment formula (FAM), which updates the costs of the state-owned distributor. According to the official report, the variation is mainly due to increases in salaries and wholesale prices. This way, the accumulated increase in the VAD during 2025 reaches 32%.
Although the authorized percentage is 3.39%, the final impact on the user could be lower. In similar cases, the effective transfer to the rate was less than 2%. Therefore, the adjustment in the final bill could average around 1.5%.

A system that adjusts every month
Electricity rates in Córdoba have been updated since 2024 through ERSEP resolution 77. This regulation allows EPEC to pass on monthly increases resulting from the FAM, without the need for quarterly evaluations. According to the regulatory body, the change seeks to speed up cost updates in a context of persistent inflation.
The polynomial formula that determines the increase weighs 45% of personnel costs and 55% of materials, services, and capital goods. Financial variables such as the Central Bank's Badlar rate are also included. According to the company, this scheme allows the real structure of operating costs to be reflected.
Until July, the adjustment system was quarterly, which required EPEC to justify each increase before ERSEP. With the new mechanism, the company only has to publish the rate charts on its website in advance. For November, the adjustment began to apply to consumption from the first day of the month.

Impact on users and comparison with other services
The 3.39% increase represents the largest update of the year for the local portion of the electricity rate. Despite this, EPEC keeps that the increase is below the provincial inflation index. The company argues that it seeks to maintain the sustainability of the service without exceeding the limits of the CPI or the Central Bank's projections.
Meanwhile, the regulatory body stated that the current scheme provides "predictability and transparency" in the calculation of increases. However, industrial sectors and merchants warn that the continuation of monthly adjustments raises fixed costs and reduces competitiveness. Residential electricity consumption could also be affected by the accumulated increase over the year.
At the same time, other provincial services are also experiencing increases. In September, Caminos de las Sierras tolls rose by 2.65%, the second highest adjustment since March. The sustained increases reflect the pressure that inflation exerts on public services in Córdoba.
