Córdoba: Epec increases the VAD by 2.02%, and the final impact on the bills will be just 1%.
The adjustment results from the monthly adjustment formula applied by the Provincial Directorate of Statistics and Censuses
When August ends, a new increase in the electricity bill is confirmed, which will take effect starting in September throughout Córdoba. The increase is due to the update of the monthly adjustment formula that regulates changes in the tariff schedules. According to the official calculation, the adjustment will reach 2.02% exclusively on the value added for distribution (VAD).
The VAD is the portion of the bill intended to cover the company's costs and represents the margin that the Province can update. The rest of the tariff consists of the value of energy set by the Nation and national, provincial, and municipal taxes. According to official sources, the real effect on the final bill amount will be 1%.
The evolution of the formula has shown monthly increases close to 2% since February, with small variations depending on each month. In February, it was 2.05%, in March 1.91%, and in April it reached 2.19%. Then, there was a 2.55% increase in May, 2.17% in June, and 2.13% in July.

How the monthly variation is calculated
The monthly adjustment formula (FAM) is prepared by Statistics and Census based on a polynomial provided by Epec to measure the impact of costs. In this formula, the wage index, the Indec wholesale domestic price index, and the Badlar rate of the Central Bank are weighted. According to the current resolution, 45% corresponds to personnel costs and 55% to materials, services, and financial costs.
The regulations establish that increases begin to apply to consumption from the first day of the month immediately following their official publication. The new tariff schedules must be published on the company's website in advance to properly inform users. This way, the August adjustment will be applied to bills that reach households starting in September.
Before Resolution 77/2024, the scheme used was quarterly and required prior reviews by Ersep for each increase request submitted by the company. The change to the monthly system was justified as a mechanism to speed up the authorization of increases in the current context. The legal text itself clarifies that "in no case may the variation in the global tariff exceed the Córdoba CPI or the CPI from the market expectations survey."
