Córdoba: hotels almost full and strong impact from the return of visitors to soccer

Instituto-River, with both fan bases, boosts the local economy. Hotels are at 95% occupancy and there is significant commercial activity

The city of Córdoba is preparing for a weekend full of tourists at the end of the winter holidays. The province reported that  hotel bookings exceed 85% and reach peaks of 95% in premium accommodations. Visitors from the interior and from provinces with ongoing recesses are arriving in the Capital for multiple events.

One of the main attractions is the match between Instituto and River Plate, which will be played with both sets of fans in the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium. The sporting event has caused strong demand for lodging and a full house is expected in the stands. Businesses, restaurants, and transportation are anticipating peaks in activity throughout the weekend.

Provincial government officials highlight the economic impact of sports tourism. Authorities emphasize that mass events reactivate key sectors of the urban economy. Córdoba seeks to position itself as a tourist and cultural hub during the winter season.

The return of visiting fans boosts Córdoba's economy

The match between Instituto and River is the first in years to feature fans from both clubs in Córdoba. The measure was made possible thanks to the approval of the national government and the progress of the Tribuna Segura program. Patricia Bullrich stated that "returning to normal means both groups of fans can be at the stadium."

The decision is part of a security policy aimed at eradicating violence in soccer and allowing families to return. The minister stated that this new stage was built with strict controls and federal coordination. The operation includes personalized tickets, admission rights, and biometric control.

AFA officials indicated that each club will be able to decide whether to admit visiting fans, but highlighted that "it's a very important day for Argentine sports." In Córdoba, the impact was immediate: higher occupancy, more bookings, and streets with a strong tourist presence.

Cultural agenda and public spaces filled with visitors

In addition to soccer, Córdoba offers a varied cultural agenda. Theater performances for the whole family attract tourists seeking affordable and high-quality options. Clown shows, puppet theater, and plays round out the end of the winter season.

The activity is also reflected in fairs, parks, and restaurants. Business owners highlight an increase in consumption, especially in areas near downtown and tourist corridors. A record-breaking end to the holidays is expected in terms of local economic activity.
