The Municipality summons service providers due to irregularities. Problems persist in outsourced public services

Waste is piling up in different neighborhoods of Córdoba Capital and residents' complaints are increasing. Failures in garbage collection are once again putting the municipality in the spotlight. The service providers haven't replied effectively in the past 48 hours.

Officials at Palacio 6 de Julio confirmed that "irregularities" in the service have been detected. Through the Urban Hygiene Directorate, contractors have been notified to demand answers. The municipality keeps that there is a direct threat to public health.

This isn't the first time there have been conflicts with companies providing public services. From transportation to urban maintenance, interruptions are recurring. The municipal administration hasn't managed to guarantee effective control over its contractors.

Companies summoned after a new failure in urban service

The local Executive urgently called the waste collection companies to a meeting at Palacio 6 de Julio. The meeting was scheduled for today at 10 a.m. to "determine the actions to be taken." No sanctions have been announced yet, but administrative measures are being considered.

Officials admit that the continuity of the service is at risk. They also insist that compliance with the current contract will be required. The companies must submit a report detailing what happened.

The current situation exposes the municipality's structural management limitations. The lack of oversight, overlapping functions, and unclear contracts create constant friction. Residents end up being the main victims.

SUOEM, outsourcing, and a municipal government that isn't shrinking

The conflict isn't happening in a vacuum: the municipality has ongoing tensions with the SUOEM union. Union resistance and the lack of public spending cuts block any attempt at reform. The municipal government remains oversized and highly bureaucratic.

Instead of moving toward a more agile administration, there is continued reliance on costly contracts with private companies. Outsourcing is combined with a state apparatus that isn't being reduced. As a result, essential services become poor and unstable.

The result is a double burden for Córdoba residents: high taxes and poor services. Waste collection is just one example of a larger crisis. Municipal governance is constrained by rigid structures and a lack of efficiency incentives.

Neighborhood complaints and lack of clear solutions

Residents of Nueva Córdoba, General Paz, and the northern area report streets with accumulated trash bags. In some sectors, collection has partially resumed. However, full normalization of the service still hasn't been achieved.

Business owners have also expressed concern about odors and filth. They warned that the situation affects daily activity and the city's image. The official response remains limited and reactive.

Passerini's improvised administration insists that they're working to solve the problem. Meanwhile, doubts persist about the sustainability of the current system. The need for structural reform in municipal management is once again exposed.
