Insecurity in Córdoba adds another chapter: Luis, fed up with impunity, took matters into his own hands

A violent attempted robbery was thwarted in Córdoba city thanks to the bravery of a shopkeeper who decided not to stand idly by. The incident occurred on Monday night, around 11:00 p.m., at a commercial establishment located in the former service station on La Voz del Interior Avenue.

Luis, the owner of the business, was surprised by two hooded and armed criminals. They entered the premises while he and two female employees were closing, demanding money and threatening them with firearms.

"I didn't think about the consequences"

Luis didn't hesitate: he grabbed something from his store's furniture and threw it directly at the assailants. "I didn't think about the consequences," he later stated to local media. The thieves, surprised by the unexpected reaction, fled without carrying out the robbery.

This act, which to some might seem reckless, was applauded by much of the community and quickly went viral on social media. Users highlighted the shopkeeper's courage, who replied to crime with nothing but his determination and furniture.

Insecurity continues to reign in Córdoba

Far from being an isolated incident, this attempted robbery adds to a long list of crimes in the area. Days earlier, a gas station employee was shot by motorcycle thieves in the Los Boulevares neighborhood, just a few kilometers from the incident involving Luis.

The recurrence of criminal acts has sparked criticism regarding the responsibility of the provincial government and security forces. Meanwhile, while officials argue from their offices, shopkeepers like Luis must improvise ways to defend themselves. In the words of many users on social media: "We are alone."
