Former legislator and former provincial deputy Oscar González has been indicted by the Federal Court of Córdoba for alleged illicit enrichment and money laundering. The decision was issued by federal judge Hugo Vaca Narvaja, who validated the investigation led by prosecutor Maximiliano Hairabedian. The case also includes accusations of omissions and falsehoods in the sworn statements of the former official.
Hairabedian explained that the indictment focuses on irregularities detected in the assets declared by González. According to the prosecutor, significant discrepancies were found between the declared value of certain properties and their market value. The asset inconsistencies were identified as the core of the alleged crime.
The origin of the investigation dates back to 2022, following the road tragedy in Altas Cumbres involving the former legislator. From that episode, the prosecutor's office began to review his assets and detected an increase that would not have been justified by his declared income.

Suspicions about the assets
Prosecutor Hairabedian stated that officials are required to explain the growth of their assets. "We requested that he be summoned to justify the origin of the increase, and in the prosecutor's office's view, he did not do so," he said. According to the judicial official, González's assets show omissions, inconsistencies, and alleged falsehoods.
The investigation aims to determine whether the former legislator engaged in asset concealment schemes. Among the elements analyzed are urban and rural properties, vehicles, and financial transactions that would not have been declared. The judge also ordered a multimillion-peso embargo on the defendant's assets.
From González's inner circle, the defense argues that these were errors in the valuation of the assets and not an attempt at concealment. However, the prosecutor's office considers that the irregularities detected are sufficient grounds to maintain the accusation.

The case continues in the Federal Court of Appeals
The next step will be the review of the indictment by the Federal Court of Appeals of Córdoba. If confirmed, the case will move forward to the former legislator's preliminary statement for new charges. The investigation seeks to determine whether there was improper use of public office to obtain personal economic benefits.
The judiciary must now decide whether the evidence gathered is sufficient to support the suspicions of illicit enrichment. Meanwhile, the judicial process is shaping up to be a new test for Córdoba's institutional system.
