La Quimera is moving forward with a US$12 million investment aimed at expanding its swine production in northern Córdoba. The facility located in El Rodeo will add 2,300 new sows and increase its herd to 6,500 animals in production. The expansion is part of a sectoral plan that aims to grow with integration and greater industrial efficiency.
With the initial works already underway, the company has begun transitioning to the "wean to finish" system, which simplifies management and improves productive performance. The piglet remains longer in the maternity area and goes directly to fattening, eliminating the intermediate rearing stage. This change extends the total cycle, but reduces operating costs and improves feed efficiency.
El lechón permanece más tiempo en maternidad y pasa directo a engorde, eliminando la etapa de recría intermedia.
Additionally, La Quimera is adding 19 new barns, including maternity and fattening areas, which will expand the installed capacity. The company is implementing group gestation and automated feeding through chips, seeking nutritional precision and animal welfare. These tools enable strict health control and reinforce biosecurity throughout the process.
La expansión forma parte de un plan sectorial que impulsa crecer con integración y mayor eficiencia industrial.
Industrial impact and employment
The farm's growth will have a direct effect on the Qualitá meat processing plant, located in Colonia Caroya. The plant is preparing an additional investment of US$3.5 million to double its monthly slaughter from 14,000 to 28,000 animals. The plant will also incorporate new technologies to support the growing volume and improve the utilization of by-products.
Qualitá made another equivalent investment in a plant designed to produce pork meal and fat that will be reintegrated into the feed system. With these projects, the group will increase its workforce and reach more than 320 employees.

The company is advancing under a circular economy model that integrates grain production, food processing, energy generation, and responsible effluent management. The system allows for cost reduction and strengthens sustainability without relying on external inputs. The new phase consolidates a self-sufficient structure that seeks greater competitiveness and stable production standards.
