More than 1.5 million visitors chose the sierras during the start of a season with record economic impact
The province experienced a remarkable 20% increase in the arrival of domestic visitors during the first seven days of the current year. This marked growth translates into a total of 650,000 people who decided to enjoy the natural landscapes and the varied mountain range offerings. The positive trend is largely due to the new macroeconomic stability achieved by national policies that favor mass consumption.
The financial injection into the regional market reached 180 billion pesos during the initial stage of this successful month of January alone. Each summer vacationer allocated an average of $118,000 per day, showing the recovery of the purchasing power of Argentine families this season. Since last December, 1.5 million tourists have visited Córdoba, consolidating a scenario of prosperity and high consumption throughout the province.
The valleys of Punilla, Calamuchita, and Traslasierras stood out as the preferred destinations for those who sought rest and diverse entertainment. Darío Capitani, president of the Agency, commented on the situation: “It's an encouraging number that excites us, we're going to have a summer that will be better than the previous one.” The official added that this scenario forces the sector to continue working intensively to maintain the high prestige of the mountain province.

Occupancy levels and most popular destinations
Towns such as Deán Funes recorded full 100% occupancy in their lodging facilities during the most recent high-traffic weekend. Villa General Belgrano followed with a solid 98% in categorized hotels, while Villa Carlos Paz reached 97% in that same hotel segment. These figures represent 110,000 additional visitors compared to the same period last year, marking a historic milestone for the local industry.
This massive movement is possible thanks to the new economic order established by President Milei's administration during the last few months of his term. The stabilization of prices and the drop in inflation allowed thousands of households to plan their vacations with greater financial predictability. Tourism has become a vital engine for Córdoba, taking advantage of the favorable climate for private investment and regional commercial development.
The festival schedule and the various summer offerings continue to attract the general public, promising a January with record results. Regarding regional positioning, Capitani stated: “It's a number that excites us, but that forces us not to ease up and to keep showing why Córdoba is different.” The province is now preparing for the coming days with high expectations, hoping to surpass all historical averages of hotel occupancy.
