Juan Data, 29 years old and originally from the southern area of Córdoba capital, traveled to Nepal to record material for his YouTube channel. What began as a personal project turned into a firsthand account of one of the strongest protests in recent times. The Cordoban stated that he experienced moments of great tension amid the outbreak of violence.

"I saw the Parliament burning; the flames lit up the city and thousands of young people celebrated while the police withdrew, defeated," he reported in communication. According to his explanation, the experience left a deep mark on him due to the magnitude of the events and the leading role of the youth. During those days, the country was paralyzed by the scale of the conflict.

Juan said that during the unrest he contacted the Argentine Embassy in India, since there is no diplomatic representation in Nepal. He explained that they provided a contact number and gave him constant follow-up. His plan now is to continue his journey to Taiwan, after the resumption of flights.

Mass protests and a country in crisis

The conflict began when the local government banned the use of 26 social networks, eventually reinstated, a measure considered an act of censorship. Thousands of protesters, mostly belonging to Generation Z, mobilized in rejection of that measure. The slogans also included criticism of corruption, the economic crisis, and the lack of opportunities.

The violence escalated quickly and the first day left 19 dead, including students and minors. The army took control of the streets after clashes with the police. Despite the measures, the country was left marked by the harshness of the repression and the social consequences.

The most shocking moment was the seizure and burning of Parliament, which led to the resignation of the prime minister. Protesters then advanced on ministries and public buildings. The sequence included attacks on media outlets and the death of a former leader's wife.
