Governor Alfredo Cornejo led the 2025 Almuerzo de las Fuerzas Vivas in San Rafael, accompanied by President Javier Milei, national and provincial officials, and business leaders. It was a historic event, as for the first time a President of the Nation participated in the event.
At the Alfredo Bufano Congress and Exhibition Center, Cornejo opened his speech with a message of unity and cooperation between the public and private sectors, in a context he defined as "a pivotal moment for the national political culture."
"The essential debate in San Rafael, in Mendoza, and throughout Argentina is how we create better conditions for the private sector to generate wealth and activate a virtuous economic cycle," the governor stated.
"Mendoza is viable if it is managed with rigor and responsibility"
Cornejo reviewed the main pillars of his administration, emphasizing fiscal discipline, investment in infrastructure, and sustainable economic planning. He recalled that, a decade ago, talking about budgetary balance was "unpopular," but today those ideas are the foundation of provincial progress.
"Poverty can only be solved with common sense, responsibility, and by renouncing demagoguery," the governor affirmed.

Strategic projects for the southern part of the province
Among the most notable projects, Cornejo mentioned National Route 143, between Pareditas and San Rafael, whose improvement will require 44 million dollars financed with provincial resources.
"We took responsibility for a national route because we don't look at who is responsible, but at who benefits," he emphasized.
He also highlighted the recovery of Schestakow Hospital, with an investment exceeding 1.4 billion pesos, and new works at the San Rafael Civic Center, along with the relocation of the Nuestra Señora de Luján School of Speech Therapy and the Deaf, in collaboration with the Lions Club.
Energy, mining, and tourism: the pillars of Mendoza's development
In line with the commitments of the Pacto de Mayo signed with the national government, Cornejo highlighted the mining potential of the southern part of the province.
"Southern Mendoza concentrates the largest number of copper and potassium projects in the country. If we consolidate economic stability, those projects can become a reality and generate thousands of jobs," he assured.
He also pointed out that Mendoza has nine solar parks in operation, two of them in San Rafael —Sosneado and Agua del Toro—, all financed by private investment and without support from the National Treasury.

"In Mendoza we don't depend on public companies, but on the drive of the private sector," he emphasized.
San Rafael: tourism, production, and growth
The governor praised the joint work with the tourism sector, which he described as a key driver for the local economy. He highlighted the rapid recovery of the Atuel Canyon road, improvements at the local airport, and the holding of the sixth Gastronomic Forum, which consolidate San Rafael as a year-round tourist destination.
He also highlighted new agricultural investments financed with compensation funds from Portezuelo del Viento, aimed at improving the irrigation network and regional production.
"Order, investment, and joint work"
At the close of his remarks, Cornejo reaffirmed his commitment to an orderly, planned, and austere administration, noting that institutional stability and public-private cooperation are essential for Mendoza's sustained development.
"These projects and policies are possible because Mendoza is orderly. Stability, planning, and smart investment are the tools with which we will continue to make San Rafael and the entire province grow," he concluded.
