Prosecutors requested the death penalty for the main suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk this Tuesday during the case's first hearing
This Tuesday afternoon, the murderer of right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, made his first appearance before the judge who will preside over the judicial proceedings. At this hearing, the charges against him were read and prosecutors formally requested the imposition of the death penalty in the event of a conviction.
Utah County prosecutor Jeff Gray detailed that Robinson faces serious charges, including aggravated murder, two counts of obstruction of justice, discharging a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of witness tampering, and committing a violent crime in the presence of a minor.
The judicial official also announced that he will seek the death penalty for Robinson, a decision he assured was not made lightly and was based solely on the available evidence and the heinous nature of the crime, not on political pressure.

Before the case is brought to trial, Robinson was seen emotionally unmoved, dressed in jail attire as the charges against him were read and when the death penalty was formally requested.
Prosecutors allege that Kirk's murder was motivated by Robinson's political ideology, which was based on leftist slogans and the defense of transgender people. The judge ordered Robinson to remain in custody without bail and scheduled his next court appearance for September 29 at 10 a.m. local time.
Additionally, it was ordered that a defense attorney be assigned to him by that date, since Robinson is currently without legal representation. About 30 people attended the hearing, including witnesses to the murder who were on the university campus the afternoon of the shooting.

Robinson confessed the crime to his trans boyfriend
Utah prosecutors stated that Robinson was involved in a romantic relationship with his roommate, a 21-year-old with mental health issues who identified as transgender. This individual, named Lance Twiggs, received a text message in which the shooter confessed his crime.
"Stop what you're doing, look under my keyboard," read the message sent by Robinson. "I have the opportunity to eliminate Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it," reads part of the note left by the leftist terrorist under the keyboard.
Later, authorities state that there was an exchange of messages in which Twiggs asks his boyfriend if he is the murderer. Robinson responds that he committed the crime, that he was fed up with Kirk's "hate," that he had been planning this for more than a week, and that he planned to get rid of the evidence that incriminated him.
