The Deliberative Council of Córdoba is decisively moving forward with a resource optimization plan through the drastic reduction of its contracted political staff. This measure involves the direct termination of 30% of the temporary employment relationships that operated under the orbit of the city's legislative body. The objective is to eliminate unnecessary expenses in order to improve the financial health of public coffers, in line with the national policy of state reduction.
The technical review is focused mainly on the 170 self-employed contractors whose contracts expired on December 31 and will not be renewed in the near future. The aim is to dismantle position structures that replied to political favors, prioritizing austerity over local partisan interests. This administrative pruning falls mostly on personnel linked to the councilors of the ruling party who maintained a massive presence of advisers.
Currently the Council has a registry of 370 scholarship holders and 170 external contractors with salaries ranging between $200,000 and $1,500,000. By making these figures transparent, the magnitude of the expense that these appointments represented for taxpayers who pay their taxes becomes evident. The savings that will be obtained with this decision will be significant and will allow much more responsible management of the funds contributed by the private sector.

Fiscal savings and efficiency in management
The official notifications of the terminations will begin to be sent in the coming hours to formalize the new reduced work scheme of the body. Deputy Mayor Javier Pretto instructed his team to carry out a thorough review that will guarantee the elimination of these political positions. This administrative change is expected to generate a redirection of tasks in order to improve the productivity of permanent staff employees.
In addition to the staff reduction, outsourced catering services were suspended and disinfection tasks throughout the building were spaced out. These actions demonstrate a real commitment to fiscal adjustment, targeting even the smallest detail of the superfluous expenses previously detected. Every peso saved in state bureaucracy represents a direct relief for citizens who support local public institutions with their taxes.
Córdoba is thus joining the national trend of reducing the size of the state, eliminating privileges that were contradictory to the current social demands. Thus, the Deliberative Council seeks to replicate the benefits of administrative efficiency promoted by Javier Milei's national government. Limiting political interference in the budget is an essential step toward consolidating a management model based on transparency and austerity.
