Daniel Gómez Rinaldi was stabbed during a robbery in Recoleta

The journalist chased the thief who stole his cellphone and ended up injured in one leg

Daniel Gómez Rinaldi was the victim of a violent robbery this Friday morning while he was on his way to work at Radio Rivadavia. The entertainment journalist was boarding the line 39 bus at the corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Talcahuano when a criminal snatched his cell phone from his hands.

Instead of standing still, Gómez Rinaldi decided to chase the thief. According to his account, he followed him for a block to 1200 Talcahuano, where he discovered that the striker had hidden inside a garbage container.

When he demanded that the thief return his cell phone, the criminal came out of the container and attacked him. He stabbed him twice in the leg with a knife, one of them with a Tramontina. Despite being injured, the journalist managed to alert the police and SAME.

The police recovered the cell phone and a judicial case was opened

Officers from the Neighborhood Police Station 1A of the City Police quickly arrived at the scene. Although the criminal managed to escape, the officers found the stolen cell phone after a brief inspection of the area.

The journalist's heartbreaking live testimony

Minutes after being discharged, Gómez Rinaldi contacted his colleagues at Radio Rivadavia. Visibly affected, he recounted the events in detail.

He said that while he was waiting for the bus, as he did every morning, he was reading on his cell phone when the thief snatched it from his hands. "I chased him down Talcahuano. I lost sight of him, but I heard a noise. He was inside a container," he said through tears.

"I asked him to give it back to me. I grabbed him by the sweatjersey, shook him, and he pulled out a knife. He stabbed me in the leg, then again. I was very agitated, I got scared, I thought the next one could be worse. I let him go and started screaming," he recalled.

He also confessed the level of anguish the attack caused him. "I need the phone for work. When the police arrived, I gave them my number and they called. They heard it ringing from the container and recovered it."

After giving his statement at the police station, Gómez Rinaldi expressed his gratitude to those who assisted him, although he was still shaken by what had happened. The incident once again raised the alarm over insecurity in the city.
