The former Millonario player was officially appointed to his new position, linked to the representation and development of the club's brand
While River is looking to relaunch itself in footballing terms after 2025, marked by a lack of goals, the club announced the return of one of the most emblematic forwards in its history. David Trezeguet has officially returned to El Millonario to take on an institutional role and was presented this Tuesday alongside president Stefano Di Carlo.
The former French forward, who had already been seen in the front row during the inauguration of the current leadership last December, will be a reference figure in strengthening and positioning the River brand. His role will be coordinated with the Institutional, Marketing and Commercial departments, with the aim of generating new value opportunities for the institution and reinforcing its projection around the world.

The club explained that, within the framework of his duties, Trezeguet will take part in:
The design and management of strategic alliances with organizations, companies, and institutions.
Support in commercial agreements and activations with sponsors and strategic partners, as well as the development of academy programs and educational experiences.
The institutional and sporting representation of the Club at official events, celebrations, protocol meetings, and outreach activities.
Relationship-building instances with football figures, the sports industry, and key stakeholders (local and, if applicable, foreign), in coordination with the corresponding areas of the Club.
The Frenchman's return reactivates a bond that is deeply tied to the club's recent history. In 2012, the world champion with France in 1998 fulfilled his dream of wearing River's jersey. He did so at one of the institution's most delicate moments, during the season in the B Nacional.
His impact was immediate: he scored 13 goals in 19 matches and proved decisive for the return to the Primera División. Because of the weight of his name and his decision to arrive in that context, he became an idol despite not having completed two seasons at the club.

Years later, in 2021, he tried to make the leap into management by running as first vice president on Antonio Caselli's ticket. Although those elections confirmed Jorge Brito as president, Trezeguet maintained his closeness to the leadership. Today, 14 years after his debut as a player and four after his political attempt, he is returning to the Núñez team with a new challenge, this time off the field.
