Two days before the debut in the 2026 Apertura Tournament, River made official the squad numbers that its players will use. The announcement arrived in the lead-up to the away debut against Barracas Central and brought several relevant changes compared to the previous season.
One of the most notable changes is in defense. Aníbal Moreno, who wore 4 during preseason, will switch to 6, which Germán Pezzella left vacant. That move will allow Pezzella himself to adopt 20, the number that belonged to Milton Casco, who left on a free transfer to Atlético Nacional after 10 years at the Núñez club.
Continuing with the new signings, Fausto Vera will wear 15, while Matías Viña will wear 18, a number that became available after the departure of Gonzalo "Pity" Martínez, Tigre's brand-new signing. Meanwhile, Tomás Galván, who returned from his loan at Vélez, will take 26, a jersey recently associated with Nacho Fernández, who in this transfer window returned to Gimnasia.
