Democratic Governor Tim Walz was accused of ordering the murder of a senator.
The Democratic governor of the State of Minnesota was accused by the murderer of a Democratic congresswoman of ordering the assassination of Senator Klobuchar
Vance Boetler, accused of a series of political murders in Minnesota, sent a letter to the FBI in which he confidently claimed that Governor Tim Walz ordered him to assassinate Senator Amy Klobuchar.
According to reports, Boetler, 57 years old, wrote that the alleged plan aimed to allow Walz to take Klobuchar's seat in the Senate. However, the letter, one and a half pages long, has been described by sources close to the governor as "confusing" and as evidence of the author's altered mental state.
Neither Walz nor Klobuchar replied directly to the accusations made in the letter, but both issued statements following the attacks. The governor's spokesperson, Teddy Tschann, expressed gratitude to law enforcement for capturing the striker and assured that justice would be served.

Meanwhile, Klobuchar described Boetler as "a very dangerous man" and thanked authorities for arresting him before he could cause more deaths.
Boetler is accused of murdering State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as injuring State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, during a targeted attack carried out in the early morning of June 14. During the attack, Boetler wore a latex mask and a police uniform, which heightened the level of terror of the act.
At the crime scene, he engaged in a shootout with police before fleeing. There, he left behind a manifesto in which he listed 70 politicians as targets, including Governor Walz himself, who years earlier had appointed Boetler to a position on a state board.

After fleeing the scene, Boetler triggered the largest manhunt in Minnesota's recent history. He was finally captured in a wooded area of Sibley County thanks to a tip from a local resident who saw him on a trail camera. SWAT teams participated in the operation that ended with his arrest.
The suspect faces multiple state and federal charges, including murder and harassment. If found guilty, Boetler could face the death penalty.
Authorities continue to investigate the contents of his manifesto and the motivations behind the attack, while public opinion and the political sphere in Minnesota are shaken by the violence and gravity of the case.
