Argentinian rock lost one of its most influential figures this Friday. Carlos Alberto Solari, popularly known as el Indio Solari, died at the age of 77 after a long battle with Parkinson's, a disease he had publicly disclosed more than a decade ago.

The news caused deep shock among his followers and in the artistic community. Considered one of the most important musicians in the history of national rock, Solari left an indelible mark both through his work and the cultural phenomenon he built alongside Patricio Rey and his Redonditos de Ricota.

According to reports, the singer passed away at his home in Parque Leloir, in the Buenos Aires district of Ituzaingó. The corresponding actions were taken by the Justice, and no other causes of death were reported beyond the complications arising from the Parkinson's he had suffered from for years.

The day he announced his illness

Indio Solari himself was the one who decided to speak publicly about his health condition while he was still musically active.

In an interview granted in 2015, he explained that he was going through a neurodegenerative disease and described in stark terms the daily challenges he faced.

"It's not cancer or AIDS", he clarified at that time, before acknowledging the impact the disease had on his life.

Months later, during a concert in Tandil, he confirmed in front of thousands of fans that he suffered from Parkinson's. "They say out there that I have an illness. Yes, it's true, Mr. Parkinson is on my heels. But well. That's life", he expressed from the stage.

That confession caused enormous shock among his followers and marked the beginning of a new phase in his career.
As the disease progressed, the musician gradually reduced his public appearances.

His last massive concert took place in Olavarría in 2017, a show that brought together hundreds of thousands of people and became one of the most remembered events in the history of Argentinian rock.

El Indio Solari was set to perform this weekend in Comodoro Rivadavia.

Although he stepped away from the stage, he never completely abandoned artistic activity. He continued writing, painting, recording material, and participating in projects with Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado, even through virtual appearances that allowed him to stay connected with his audience.

Just next Saturday, June 6, he was scheduled to perform with the band Comodoro Rivadavia. Yesterday, his official account had announced the sale of remaining tickets. Therefore, the news of his passing took all attendees by surprise.
