Amid the debate over the use of artificial intelligence, the director of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stepped forward to clarify the studio's stance. The creative director explained why the team experimented with generative AI during development and why he ultimately decided not to use it.
The statements come after the controversial revocation of awards at the Indie Game Awards, after undisclosed use of AI was detected. According to Guillaume Broche, the final content of the RPG was created entirely by people.

Why did the studio decide to try artificial intelligence?
During a question-and-answer session, Broche said that the team decided to experiment with generative AI when this technology started to become popular. At that time, the game's development was already advanced.
"It was a new tool, we tried it like any other", the director explained. However, he clarified that the experience was not positive and that they quickly realized it did not fit the project.
