President Donald Trump demanded on Tuesday that California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff be brought to justice after evidence emerged linking him to a mortgage fraud scheme.
Through his Truth Social network, Trump accused Schiff of committing fraud by declaring his primary residence in Maryland, which would have allowed him to obtain more favorable mortgage terms, despite having represented California in Congress since 2000.
"I always suspected Adam Schiff was a scammer. Now I learn that Fannie Mae's Financial Crimes Division concluded that he has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible mortgage fraud," Trump wrote.
The fraud began in February 2009—when the Democrat refinanced his property in Maryland and was already a member of Congress—and continued until October 2020, when he finally designated that house as his secondary residence.

"Adam Schiff is a criminal"
Trump argued that the former congressman should have declared the property as a secondary residence from the beginning, since as a federal congressman for California, his primary domicile should have been in that state.
