The president hardened his stance toward the Caracas regime and warned that Washington 'will not stand idly by' in the face of Chinese operations in the region
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that "there will be ground action in Venezuela," amid escalating tensions between Washington and Nicolás Maduro's regime.
During a speech from the White House, the President also accused China of using Venezuelan territory as a platform for smuggling fentanyl into the United States, describing the situation as "a direct threat to national security."
Military warning and ongoing operations
Trump's statements came shortly after U.S. Air Force B-1B strategic bombers were detected about 80 kilometers (49.7 miles) off the Venezuelan coast, according to military reports. The aircraft were just 9.6 kilometers (6 miles) from the Los Testigos archipelago, in an operation that specialized sources interpreted as a military reconnaissance maneuver.

International analyst Andrei Serbin Pont stated on social media that the deployment "is not a drill nor a mere show of force," but is part of a strategy to probe the Venezuelan air defense network and update the geolocation of the regime's surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems. "They're not the only assets operating in the area," the expert warned.
Trump targets China and Maduro
In his speech, Trump directly linked Beijing with Caracas and accused both governments of acting as partners in synthetic drug trafficking. "China has turned Venezuela into a transit point for fentanyl that's killing our youth. We're not going to allow it anymore," the President stated.
The American President insisted that his administration is ready to "take concrete measures" in defense of the Western Hemisphere and the security interests of the United States. "We've been patient for too long. Now the time for action has come," he declared.

Regional scenario in tension
The military movement near the Venezuelan coast is interpreted as a clear sign of pressure on Maduro's regime and its allies. In recent months, Trump has toughened his foreign policy toward governments aligned with China and Russia in Latin America, consolidating a cooperation axis with the region's democratic allies.
Meanwhile, Nicolás Maduro's government has not yet issued an official response to Trump's statements or to the U.S. military presence near its airspace.
