Donald Trump is considering intervening in Washington, D.C., and taking over the local government.

This is due to the disastrous local Democratic government, which is destroying the capital of the United States

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Tuesday that his administration is considering assuming direct control of the local government of Washington, D.C., in what would be a federal intervention in the nation's capital, a district governed by Mayor Muriel Bowser of the Democratic Party.

During a cabinet meeting held at the White House, Trump stated that his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, is in close contact with Mayor Muriel Bowser to discuss the city's situation. "We're thinking about taking over the government of Washington, D.C.," said the president, alluding to a possible federal intervention.

The Republican leader had already raised this possibility at the beginning of the year, openly criticizing the levels of crime, the presence of homeless encampments, vandalism, and what he described as Democratic mismanagement in the capital.

The Home Rule Act of 1973, which grants limited self-government to Washington, establishes that Congress has final authority over the laws of the District of Columbia. For the federal Executive to take direct control, Congress would need to pass a specific law partially or fully suspending that legal framework, so Trump's warning could come to pass.

The U.S. president's proposal to assume control of Washington, D.C.'s government doesn't arise in a vacuum. It is based on a critical and sustained situation of insecurity, lack of control, and institutional decay under local management led by the Democratic Party.

For years, Mayor Muriel Bowser's administration has been the subject of harsh criticism for its inability to stop the rise in violent crime, robberies, shootings, and the proliferation of homeless encampments in parks and iconic public spaces.

Official reports and journalistic accounts indicate that D.C. recorded crime spikes above the national average, with entire areas where police operate with limitations and residents live in fear. In Trump's own words: "People are dying. People are getting hurt. Too much crime, too much graffiti, too many tents in the magnificent gardens."

According to Trump, allowing the capital of the United States to continue deteriorating is unacceptable: "We should govern it with strength, with law and order, and make it absolutely impeccably beautiful," he asserted at the beginning of the year.

For Trump and millions of people, the case of D.C. is a clear example of the failure of the Democratic model, where excessive ideology and political correctness replaced common sense, weakening the rule of law.
