“Doom: The Dark Ages” definitely drops in price and renews the complete collection of the saga

Doom: The Dark Ages, the latest installment of one of the most recognized first-person shooter franchises in the industry, has permanently reduced its price to $50, a change that may be particularly appealing to those who have not yet decided to join the new chapter of the saga.

The change coincides with an update to Doom Anthology, the collection of titles from the franchise marketed by id Software, which is now available again with the Premium edition of The Dark Ages included in the package.

Doom Anthology adds the Premium edition

The new configuration of the collection incorporates not only the base game but also the content corresponding to the Premium edition of Doom: The Dark Ages. Among that content is Revelations, the DLC announced for this installment.

However, there is an important difference for those who had previously purchased Doom Anthology. Owners of the previous version of the package will not automatically receive The Dark Ages in their libraries, so they will need to purchase it separately if they want to complete the collection.

The permanent reduction to $50 partially decreases that additional cost for users who already own the rest of the games.

The new collection is limited to the current generation

The updated version of Doom Anthology will only be available for PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S.

This means that players still using previous generation consoles do not need to repurchase the collection with this update in mind, as the new configuration is specifically aimed at current platforms and PC.

The measure also reinforces id Software's strategy to focus the new phase of the franchise on more recent hardware, especially after the release of The Dark Ages.
