The businessman expressed his regret on social media regarding the flood of tweets against the president and admitted that they were out of line
Elon Musk, the technology magnate and owner of X, expressed his regret this Wednesday for the harsh posts he had recently directed at President Donald Trump, in the context of a public confrontation that captured media attention during the past week.
""I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,"" Musk wrote on his social network, indicating a significant change in tone after days of accusations and incendiary messages.
The conflict began after Musk harshly criticized the so-called ""Big Beautiful Bill"", a legislative initiative promoted by Trump's administration. Musk described the project as a ""disgusting abomination full of political favors"" and called on Republicans to reject it.
This prompted a forceful response from the president, who accused Musk of having ""lost his mind"" and threatened to cut government contracts with the billionaire's companies.
Amid the exchange, Musk launched a series of increasingly aggressive posts. One of the most explosive was a direct accusation insinuating that Trump might be linked to the unreleased documents in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
""Time to drop the big bomb: Trump is in Epstein's files. That's the real reason they haven't been released. Have a nice day, DJT!"" Musk wrote on X. This post was later deleted, but it left a strong public impression.
Another of the messages deleted by Musk claimed that without his help Trump wouldn't have won the presidency, further suggesting that the president should be removed and even replaced by Vice President JD Vance.
These statements helped deepen the rift between the two, especially considering that Musk had served as a senior advisor to the government before his recent departure from the Department of Government Efficiency.
Despite the intensity of the clash, tensions seem to have cooled in recent days. Trump told the press that, although his relationship with Musk had deteriorated, he held no grudge against him.
""We had a great relationship and I wish him the best, very sincerely,"" he stated from the White House. In response, Musk posted a heart emoji on X, a sign that the magnate might be seeking to restore the relationship.
This apparent rapprochement has been interpreted by sources close to Musk as an attempt by the businessman to de-escalate the conflict. Some associates claim that Musk, after days of overflowing anger, is beginning to reflect on the consequences of his words, and that he truly wishes to repair the bond with the former president.
The signs of reconciliation were reinforced when Musk shared a post from Trump criticizing the handling of protests in Los Angeles by Democratic authorities, also supporting a message from Vice President Vance in which he called for strong leadership in the face of the unrest.
Musk's conciliatory turn represents a remarkable contrast with his recent statements. Although he didn't specify which posts he particularly regretted, the deletion of several key messages and the more measured tone of his latest interactions suggest an effort to contain the damage and, perhaps, restore dialogue with Trump.
